Call your Representative to Protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Again!
Despite the Senate's 52-48 bipartisan rejection of Arctic drilling on March 19, the House has attached a provision to the upcoming energy bill that will open the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling unless an amendment is passed to strike it down.

To get your Rep's phone number enter your zip here:

We can't be sure which day the vote will come, but House leaders have vowed to pass an energy bill before they leave for their spring recess April 11. Two years ago, the House narrowly approved an energy bill that would have opened the Arctic to drilling. We expect the vote to be very close again, so we can't afford to take even a single vote for granted. PLEASE CALL TODAY!

HOW THE SENATE VOTED ON MARCH 19, 2003:
The Senate voted to NOT include Arctic drilling in the Federal Budget 52 to 48. As the League of Conservation Voters put it, "The vote was so close that Vice President Dick Cheney broke out of his undisclosed location to be the potential anti-environment tie breaking vote--but in the end, the wilderness prevailed."
