Clearcast: Don't Ban The Fight Against Famine On British Airways

ONE's new public service announcement 'The F Word: Famine is the Real Obscenity' has been banned from being broadcast in the UK.

The ad aims to focus the world's attention on the famine and food crisis in the Horn of Africa, but the organisations who decide whether or not an ad can be shown on commercial TV are refusing to let it air.

They claim it does not comply with rules covering political advertising in the UK, despite the fact that ONE is not a political party and has no political affiliation.

It is absurd that this advertisement has been banned from TV in the UK. The broadcasting code is meant to keep political propaganda off British television, but the ONE ad highlights the desperate plight of 750,000 people in east Africa who the UN warns could die before the end of the year.

Take action today: Tell those responsible for the clearance of television adverts not to stand in the way of support for those suffering from the crisis in east Africa.
Dear Clearcast,

You recently refused to clear the ONE Campaigns new public service announcement "The F Word: Famine is the Real Obscenity."

While you stated that this advertisement could contravene section 7 of the UK Broadcast Advertising Code, ONE is not a political party and has no political affiliation.

[Your comments will be added here]

We recognise the purpose of the broadcasting code is to keep political propaganda off British television, but our ad highlights the desperate plight of 750,000 people in east Africa who the UN warns could die before the end of the year. Unless we keep the spotlight on this crisis and the need for urgent action, those people will be forgotten.

Please, allow this advertisement on British Television. Those suffering in east Africa need all the support we can give.
