At Care2, we like to practice what we preach, so we.re excited to be .going green. at our Data Center (where all of our back-end servers are located that run the Web site).
How this will impact you:
The Care2 Web site will be available but with some limitations on functionality during the weekend of 5/16/08. from Friday night May 16th at 8pm PST until Monday May 19th at 8am PST PST as we replace servers and perform the upgrade.
- Care2 Webmail users, you will not be impacted by the outage and your email access will be uninterrupted, the entire weekend.
- eCards senders, you will not be able to send cards during the move and if you have scheduled eCards to go out over that weekend they will not go out. You have the choice of either having your cards sent on Friday, May 16th before the move, or rescheduling them to be sent after Monday, May 19th when our new data center is live. To reschedule cards, go to your .Future Cards. eCards page.
- The Web site for the most part will be read-only which means that we won.t be able to accept comments or new content during this time. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you.

This upgrade is a great win-win. Our members should experience a faster website, while Care2 will significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Care2 will save 341,000 kilowatt-hours and will have abated 266 metric tons of CO2 due to these upgrades
How do these savings translate? It.s comparable to the following*:
- Eliminating annual greenhouse gas emissions from 48.6 passenger vehicles or
- Eliminating CO2 emissions from 30,149 gallons of gasoline consumed or
- Eliminating CO2 emissions from the electricity use of 35.2homes for one year or
- Avoiding greenhouse gas emissions by recycling 91.6 tons of waste instead of sending it to the landfill
