Many people still question the importance of taking supplements at all. Here are ten reasons to consider supplementing your diet with high-quality nutrients:
1. Current commercial agriculture techniques leave soil deficient in important minerals, causing the food grown in this soil to share the same mineral deficiencies.
2. Many foods are shipped long distances and are stored for long periods of time, both of which cause the depletion of vitamins in these foods, including the important B-complex and C vitamins.
3. Food processing, cooking, and preserving leads to nutrient depletion in our food supply that makes it difficult to obtain adequate nutrition from foods alone.
4. Many fruits and vegetables are genetically bred to improve visual appeal and crop yields, not nutritional value, which frequently results in lesser nutritional values than our ancestors’ food supply.

Natural treatment is always better than supplements. Todays life is so fast that is why public is running towards the supplement as it needs no preparation. This act save times for them but not good for their health.

I have been taking vitamins & supplements for several years.
I believe they really help to keep me fit & prevent disease.
It is an individual choice.
Be careful. Real food is still better than supplements because they're natural. Too high of vitamin E can cause prostate cancer, yet in the right dose, can prevent it. Go figure.
thanks
Thank you for the summary.
I take supplements every day because I know I don't get what I should through my diet alone. Working on changing that though.
Check with Dr Andrew Weil. He is really sensible and down to earth re:supplements that help.
I take a multivitamin occassionaly, I should take it regularly I know.
I was saying for those of you that don't believe you need supplements then consider this. The recommendation for fresh fruits and vegetable has gone from 3 - 5 servings a day up to around 13. Note that it says fresh not picked green and gas ripened in a storage shed some 12 mths later. Agricultural methods have decreased nutrition by an average 40% since 1950. Pollution has been found in all corners of the earth and when people say organic is better then consider this. The produce is still grown in the same soil and exposed to the same air. It just means no chemicals were intentionally added. In this modern world you need these food supplements to get your cell to cell communication working and if it isn't working then you are going to become ill, maybe not today but it is going to happen and then you will get drugs to extend your life but not improve it.
