Let’s talk about sex, baby.
Most of us would rather keep what we do between the sheets out of the public eye, but too much secrecy can do us a great disservice when it comes to health and satisfaction.
As hormone-filled adolescents, our idea of intimacy is mostly shallow and driven by physical desires. As we mature, we realize there’s more too it than a few steamy minutes in the backseat of a car. Our need for intimacy is something that sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom and it’s hard-wired into our brains for good reason.
Research shows that there are direct connections between a healthy sex life and just being healthy in general. Most of us never think about the benefits of intimacy beyond the instant gratification, but there’s evidence to suggest that regular sex can keep you from getting the flu, help you lose weight, and yes, even allow you to live a longer life.
