The article mentions mason bees... has mason bees raised from both sides of the US, available between December and March. We also have the leafcutter bee which is perfect for gardens.

Bees are vital to us if we wish to continue to enjoy such a variety of fruits to help us stay healthy!

There is a great book, "The Life of Bees" by Laurence Packer, who is a melittologist at the University of Toronto. I completely agree with the end of his the Mayans still do, we need to worship bees. Frankly they are far more worthy of worship than a make-believe god. Bees perform miracles, basically right in front of our eyes all the time and we never think about it. I also never, in my years of going to church, heard a single sermon on the miracle of bees.

The book is especially wonderful because there are so many kind of bees and many that we don't recognize as bees and kill as pests. I hope they are teaching about bees in elementary school because that is where the education about them must start, and then perhaps as adults these educated people will stop killing bees.

Blessed be the bees, for without them our diet will become bland and unbalanced.
