15 Handmade Valentine’s Day Gifts for Guys

Valentine’s Day is creeping upon us once again, and, we get it – guys aren’t always the easiest to buy for. They generally seem to want a lot less stuff than the ladies and often buy the things they need on their own. Luckily they are also usually easy to please, and we’ve got some gift ideas we think will do just that. This is, of course, only if you plan to exchange gifts, which we recognize that many couples stop doing for Valentine’s Day after the first few years of couplehood. Which has us curious: Do you and your hubby make dinner together or do some other sort of activity for the holiday?†Barely recognize it’s existence? Do you exchange cards and call it a day? (Psst: for amazing cards, check out Sapling Press). Would love to hear about your plans (or non-plans) in the comments below!

Buying for a woman? Next week we’ll have some gift ideas for the ladies, so stay tuned for that.

The soapstone keeps the whiskey chilled without having to dilute with ice. Leave these babies in the freezer for a few hours before getting the guys together and enjoy! ($40 for set, Uncommon Goods)

This handmade wooden iPhone dock charges, plays music (not super loudly, to be fair) and acts as an alarm. Useful and attractive! ($40, Uncommon Goods)

“I love you” morse code keychain featuring a brushed finish nickel silver plate on leather. ($15, Chris and Jessica)

Fancy handmade shaving kit, anyone? It’s not for everyone but is definitely a popular gift. This one includes an all natural handmade body soap, natural shaving soap and a hand-painted quality badger hair shaving brush packaged in a rustic hessian (jute, burlap) gift bag. ($35, Dr. K’s Soap Company)

All natural spray cologne made with 100% essential oils and absolutes. Pack House Natural Cologne smells a little like the historic tobacco barns popular in North Carolina. A top note of bitter orange brings to mind the citrus oils used to remove the tobacco residue from hands after handling the fresh plant. Top notes fade into deep, resinous tones of aged wood, the cooled ash from a hearth, and, of course, tobacco. Mmm, manly! ($40, Tarheel Tobacconist)

Leather and silver cuff bracelet custom stamped with whatever message you like for him. Perhaps the latitude and longitude of where you met or got married? ($165, The Bead Store)

This rubber silicone case will fit either an iPhone 4 or 4s. The personalized case will feature a photo of whatever you like on the back. If you want, you can send the picture you’d like to use to the shop and they will send you a preview of your case before you make your purchase! ($22.50, HH Print)

Portable amp and speaker for iPhone or MP3 player made from – yep! – an Altoids can! Genius. ($30, Ampoids)

Your guy into hats? There are tons of vintage Stetsons and the like all over eBay and Etsy. Ch-ch-check it out! (Pictured: Grey wool/tweed fedora, $32, Annie Banannies Shop)

This cuff bracelet is no joke – it’s made with REAL .32 Magnum brass bullet shells lined up and bound with strong rustic cording. It is securely fastened by a utilitarian clasp. The brass bulletís color will wear in beautifully over time. ($35, Koohi)

This unisex backpack is made from 12oz cotton canvas with fine quality spunbond lining. Great if your dude is a student, a biker or does something that requires him to tote around a bunch of stuff. ($37, Cozibag)

Beanies – they aren’t just for the ladies! In fact, they look really awesome on many men. This slouchy beanie hat is knitted from wool and acrylic yarn. ($35, Zukas)

If your man is into pipes, you should really check out the awesome assortment of vintage pipes on both eBay and Etsy. We really love this 1970s pipe, Italian, signed Brebbia. Brebbia is an Italian company founded in 1947 that is still producing high quality pipes. ($88, Andolinas Wishes)

The perfect haberdashery gift! This gift pack features one pair of sterling silver square cufflinks hand stamped with the word, initial, monogram, or names of your choice, one personalized aluminum money clip and one aluminum tie bar personalized as well. The cufflinks measure 9/16″ vertically and horizontally. ($50, The Silver Diva)

Just need something sweet and simple? We love this hand stamped spatula for your favorite grill master. ($21, Tiffys Love)

Though I'm against the idea of useless spending, and these gift ideas certainly aren't useful, I will give the poster credit for style.

The wooden clock would make an unusual and interesting gift. But a badger hair shaving brush? Never.
