Golden Conure
The golden conure, aka golden parakeet, lives in the upland rainforests of Brazil and finds itself on the endangered species list, due to deforestation and high risk of capture for its attractive plumage. It employs a breeding technique that is unique among parrots: a pair of parents usually has a number of fellow helpers to raise their young.

+ add your ownLovely! Having a lifelong interest in exotic birds, I was having fun identifying each bird before I read the caption underneath, but the Dusky Lory stumped me. (OK, I knew it was a lory, because I have a book on the parrots of the world, but I forgot which one.)
I know why flamingos stand on one leg. Most birds do this to sleep or rest, and their leg muscles automatically lock into position, which prevents them from falling if they really relax.
