25 Cute Animals Speaking Out Against Animal Cruelty

North Dakota is currently one of the most lenient U.S. states when it comes to animal abuse crimes. It’s one of two states where even the most extreme animal abuse cases are only considered misdemeanors. However, if the state’s Measure 5 passes, that will finally change. According to North Dakotans to Stop Animal Cruelty:

“This ballot measure would make the most extreme forms of cruelty a class C felony when inflicted upon a dog, cat, or horse. This measure would also give judges the additional option of requiring that animal abusers receive psychological counseling and prohibiting them from owning a dog, cat, or horse for up to five years.”

This is great news for the animals of North DakotaŚ so they’re speaking up to show their support for the measure! In a new campaign in support of the anti-cruelty bill, animal lovers from around the world are sending in photos of their animals with signs in support of the measure.

If you and your animal want to support the North Dakotan animals, you can submit your photos online, even if you don’t live in North Dakota!

Read on to see some of the inspiring anti-animal-cruelty photos from this clever campaign.

I am a college student doing a research paper on this ballot measure and i just wanted to answer a question someone posted trying to be rhetorical, hover it actually should be answered. the question was why do they need to vote on this, doesn't everyone agree with animal protection. Yes they do but the problem is that measure 5 only covers cats, dogs, and horses and does not address most of the common forms of cruelty in North Dakota. So that is why there are some people saying no to the measure. the NDRAC has been drafting a proposal which is more detailed and provides for better animal care which will be ready by the next ballot, if measure 5 is passed it will take 7 years or a two-thirds majority to change what measure 5 will do. I am a high animal lover and in fact am studying to become a veterinarian. I thought when i chose this topic i would find myself in favor of measure 5 but i actually am opposed to it. I dis not write this to bash anyones ideas all i ask is that before you make a decision or post in support of this ballot please take the time to research both sides of the issue I am sure that may of you would find that you too would vote against measure 5 so that better legislation could be put in place next year and not 7 years from now.
