4 Powerful Qualities of Positive People

Think about the positive, happy people you know. If you can count more than five, it’s a sign that you are one of them. Because, positive people like to be among positive people!

I am fortunate to have some around me, and my observation of them has helped me identify the key qualities that make them so inspiring and such a joy to be around.  Here is that short list:

They are what they choose: be it their books, movies, leisure hours; positive people like to ‘consume’ good material. This helps them think good thoughts, come up with fresh ideas, and stay away from toxic and negative stuff.

They are what they are: negative people walk around wearing masks; positive people wear their hearts on their sleeves. They like who they are and enjoy what they have. This absence of insecurity sets off a wonderful cycle: they readily give more, so they receive more, and always have extra happiness to give away!

They like to learn:  10 times out of 10, you will see a happy, positive person filled with lust for life and thirst for knowledge. And I am not talking about formal education. Positive folks are those who know how exciting and possibility-filled a place the world can be. They cannot wait to explore and enrich it. Be it the art of baking a cake, photographing a scene, or trying their hand at mechanics—you will always see them keen to try out something new!

They appreciate the simple things: two people are watching the sunset. One sees the onset of night and starts worrying about tomorrow. The other, who also has deadlines to meet, takes a moment to revel in the beauty of the sky. Things, events and situations are often pretty similar of people—it’s how we respond to them that makes us happy, or not.

:) live each day realizing it could be your last, and gain some perspective. life is too short to be miserable about everything. And really? 9 times out of 10 our problems are petty compared to the problems of millions elsewhere

Sorry a part of my post got chopped in the middle:

"They are what they choose": Oh was I bullied at work? Why didn't I knuckle.under and pretend to like the stuff I was told to like. Because life's too short to be a phony copy of whatever you are told is: 'the norm.' Now I'm free to be myself and people let me know they appreciate me for it!

I think the word 'positive' has become a cliche. If anyone says: 'Be positive!' to me, I reply: 'Being positive doesn't mean that "it couldn't happen to me!" It means that bad stuff could happen to anyone, but if that means me, I'll come out on top!'
They are what they cho I bullied at work? Why didn't I knuckle.under and pretend to like the stuff I was told to like. Because life's too short to be a phony copy of whatever you are told is: 'the norm.' Now I'm free to be myself and people let me know they appreciate me for it!

They are what they are: positive people wear their hearts on their sleeves. Yes, because I pay other people the compliment of believing that they will understand or approve (depending on circumstances.)

They like to learn: I have a collection of non-fiction books so large I think of it as my library, and I loved the documentaries on BBC4 before they were hit by lack of funding. As an artist, I'm forever learing to paint more subjects and paint them better.

They appreciate the simple things: Yes, I've always got time for sunrises and sunsets, the changing light on the hills, and especially the beautiful red kites circling in the sky and extending their original range in mid-Wales eastwards.

So I guess I'm all these things. But I don't stay away from people who appear negative. I was once in a very dark place so I know how much it means to have a friend who supports you. .
