5 Cancer-Fighting Spices

posted by Veronica Peterson May 4, 2009 5:12 pm

Garlic
No surprise here. The stinking rose is one of the most potent weapons in preventing cancer, particularly colon cancer. Containing the photochemical allicin, garlic stimulates the production of cancer-fighting enzymes. Daily garlic consumption can lower total cholesterol and triglyceride levels by 10 percent and has the added benefit of keeping vampires at bay.

Thanks for a great article! Isn't it wonderful how the healthiest foods are often the most delicious, flavorful ones as well??!

I've used every single one of these nutritive "spices" liberally throughtout my cookbook (a vegan holistic health resource and cookbook)! They are so immune-boosting, cleansing, and tasty as well!

Check out some free recipes from the book at: www.radianthealth-innerwealth.com

The xanthones contained in Mangosteen fruit are also know to have many cancer fighting properties (www.pubmed.gov). Xango has created a functional health beverage with a patented forumual using the ENTIRE fruit, since most xanthones are found in the rind. The drink is made to be taken 3oz. a day. Most people use it as a daily preventative, but some have started it after a cancer diagnosis. Mangosteen does a lot more than just fight cancer, it's worth the research, and like any natural product, it's not guaranteed to work for everyone. Check out www.mymangosteen.com/north

I have no problem with these except tumeric. In high amounts it caused an outbreak on my neck and sides of my face. So use with caution at first to make sure you are not allergic. I have similar problems using the herbs echinacea and goldenseal.
