5 Environmental Crises To Care About

Imagine for a minute if corporate-sponsored mouthpieces like Limbaugh and O’Reilly were correct on either of these points:

Global warming is a hoax
Humans are not responsible for climate change

Well, guess what? It wouldn’t change the green movement’s primary mission. Because while some waste valuable time debating deniers, every 24 hours:

13 million tons of toxic chemicals are released across the globe
Over 100 plant or animal species go extinct
200,000 acres of rainforest are destroyed
45,000 humans die of starvation

And that’s just the tip of the melting iceberg…

Climate change, of course, connects to many of the pressing green issues but our eco-system would be in peril even if the deniers are right. We’d still have 80 percent of the world’s forests gone. We’d still have 90 percent of the large fish in the ocean gone. In other words, we’d still have an urgent need to dismantle industrial civilization and work towards a greener future.

"Acid Test" - it's all about how our oceans are becoming acidified due to the greenhouse effect.

"The 11th Hour" - this is about everything going on, and TRULY mind-blowing. I found myself wanting to do anything to help after watching this.

I sign and note many posts, because I feel I a learning a lot, and some points help me to see that I can make a small difference.I don't buy hardly any green products as from care2 I have learned how to make my own...kudos to them!!! It does not scare me to read about what is going on in the world, I guess because I have known since young that too much money brings greed, crime, graft, corruption, drives politics and on and on. The people running the nations spend most of their time nit picking and in - fighting to make sure whoever helped to put them in get what they want. We should have biologists, botanists, geologists, scientists and the list can go on of special people who are interested in Mother Earth running our countries!

Indeed, James, it IS scary ... this is precisely why POLITICIANS/elitists in power, are able to lead the people by their noses & make a PROFIT on their stupidity!

"Global warming" started as "Global cooling" when I was a young woman in the 70's -- all the prophets of doom predicted "glaciers moving south", "temperatures dropping", "coming ice age"!

When that was debunked, after a little time passed -- we started "warming"! After "climate gate", "global warming" became "Climate Change" -- which became CLIMATE "DISRUPTION"!

The climate or weather doesn't care whether man lives or dies and nothing we can do will change the weather patterns. If the solar system decides to freeze us to death, it will happen,same is true if it decides to burn us to death.
