There's a lot of good information, both in the article itself and the comments. I personally use Yin Chiao as soon as I start to feel ill, and it seems to help cut down the length of time I'm sick.

THANKS.
This is very helpful.. Thanks
a late doctor, personal friend of mine was asked about aspirin versus antibiotics for a cold. He got tired of trying to explain the virus versus penicillin relationship, and the aspirin versus your digestive system thing. His answer was "You can take antibiotics and see me in 2 weeks, or aspirin and see me in 14 days."
I have found that having a TCM massage - focusing in unblocking meridians - can also help as a cold is coming on. If it 'cold' more emotionally related, especially, this can help ease the cold's intensity and duration.
thankyou
Thanks for the natural remedies :)

This article about a recent study that includes data on the effectiveness of vitmain D versus the flu vaccine says, "The Japanese scientists, writing in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, say that the anti-viral drugs zanamivir and oseltamivir reduce risk of flu infection by 8 per cent in children who have been exposed to infection, compared with a 50 per cent or greater reduction with vitamin D." Are those clear and convincing results or what? To see an abstract of the actual study, visit .
By way of personal experience, I've been fighting a cold for 3 days using ginger, sinus flush, hibiscus tea with eucalyptus, and regular doses of multivitamins. I was holding my own but it wasn't until I remembered to up my Vit D dosage to 8000 IUs that I saw improvment. I'm now practically cold-free 4 days into the cycle.
