6 Ways to Protect Skin from Winter Weather

Bundle up: Before braving the frigid outdoors, be sure to cover as much exposed skin as you possibly can. The skin on your fingers and toes is particularly susceptible to frostbite and windburn.

Remember your sunscreen: It may be a summertime staple, but according to Baxt, sunscreen is essential during cloudless winter days—especially if there’s sun-reflecting snow on the ground.

Keep showers short: As satisfying as a steamy shower can be on a cold winter’s night, Marotta warns that basking in too much scalding water can strip your skin of much of its moisture.

Crank up the humidity: Full room humidifiers can help re-infuse dry, artificially-heated air with some much-needed moisture.

John L is right about PETROLEUM jelly. Watch ingredients!
If you're going out in the cold, here's an experiment I found that looks fascinating. We don't get this cold in Florida, so I can't try it. http://distractify.com/culture/arts/frozen-bubbles-in-wintertime/

Thank you. It's just starting to get cold here and I'm already having dry skin problems. I'll try your tips. Thanks for the advise.

Vaseline is a petroleum based product. Not only is it toxic, but It can/does clog pores. There's a product called Un-Petroleum jelly. Better option. I love almond oil, jojoba, or coconut oil. Apricot oil is wonderful too. Just make sure that they are un-refined, organic products. Dr. Bronners makes a hand salve....it's nice too. :-). I'm a guy, ladies.....but I like being "in the know" about quality products, and keeping my skin soft.
