Foxy, a gorgeous golden/chow mix, with a marvelous licorice tongue (on the next page), Bobo, an all-white sweetheart (below), and Chauncy Gardner, a love bug Chow Chow/Pit bull terrier-mix (above) are among at least 60 dogs who are losing their home this holiday season. But you can help.
Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Tara’s Babies Animal Welfare, a no-kill dog rescue and sanctuary near Payson, Arizona, is sadly closing. The dogs in their care thus have three vital items on their holiday wish list:
- A new home – temporary or permanent
- Dog food
- Volunteers from the Four Corners area who can donate their time to the remote Northern Arizona sanctuary

Most rescues are full to the brim and would be hard-pressed to take on dogs that might not find homes for a long time. I hope I'm wrong and that all of these babies find places to go soon.
