From turkey enchiladas, to mashed potato fritters, we’re always looking for ways to put our holiday leftovers to good use. But what if we stopped shoveling it in and started shoveling it on? Why not nurture your dry, winter skin with seasonal eats? And don’t worry, we’re not talking a gravy mask or mashed potato soak, these spa treatments are so indulgent you’ll forget their former glory entirely.
If you want to glow even when it’s gray outside, antioxidant-laden foods are a must. Remove yourself from the rush of the holiday season and plan a DIY spa day with foods leftover from a holiday of indulgent eats. You’ll feel refreshed and ready to take on the New Year.
You made way too much pumpkin purée for that joyous pumpkin pie, homemade pumpkin pasta, or creamy pumpkin bisque but don’t fret because it’s the main ingredient to this relaxing Pumpkin Enzyme Masque. Also, pumpkin helps fight the dry winter air with Vitamins A and C, as well as zinc and beneficial alpha-hydroxy acids. I would go with homemade pumpkin purée so that you know that your purée didn’t lose any essential enzymes during the canning process.
Pumpkin Enzyme Masque
¼ cup pumpkin purée
1 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
3 tsp honey
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Method
Combine all the ingredients together in a blender or with a wooden spoon. Apply a thick layer all over your face, being careful to avoid the eyes and mouth. Keep it on your face for about 10 minutes and then gently remove with a wash cloth and warm soapy water.
