Planning a picnic or small get together for the holiday weekend but crunched on time? Here are seven homemade items you can purchase and rush ship.

While I love a new food find as much as the next person (and have been known to spend way more money than I should on such things) I personally think that $1 for some red white and blue sugar sprinkles to put on homemade cookies that can be sent to our troops or brought to your local veteran's hospital is a much better way to spend your money and time this year.

This is not what Memorial Day is about. Memorial Day is about remembering those who gave us the freedoms we have. Many gave us their blood and their lives and left their families to do without them present.
Make your own stuff. My day is just sitting on the porch, yes, a real porch, and enjoy the day our Creator gives us. My brothers and sisters who gave me this freedom are much appreciated by me. Today is a day to slow down, think, and take time to offer Thanks to those who gave us everything they had.
I'll see you at the cemetery putting flags on the graves of our veterans and active duty who sleep there.
