6. Skippers Road, New Zealand
Skippers Road was built in 1890, so that gold miners could bring heavy machinery into Skippers Canyon. Today, the road is hardly changed from how it was back then: the rock that the road is built upon is so soft that maintaining the road is a losing battle. The road tends to turn into dust as soon as it’s dry, and greasy mud the moment it rains. Closer to the canyon, you can (carefully) drive across a one-lane suspension bridge, and imagine what it would have been like traveling through the area on foot or with a horse.

Wow....these roads make the theme parks I've visited in the past few years seem pretty tame!!
spectacular! I would say Needles Highway made my hair stand on end, also, the switchback roads in Alaska, in March, made me pull my hat over my eyes and pray.

I would NEVER drive on one of these roads! They are all scarry except the one in Russia which just a mud trail. I wouldn't drive on it either.

I'll take scared roads over stupid drivers.
The first one is similar to Ireland and it was scary as hell when our tour bus and another met;we were so close you could touch each other. The one in China is insane
