A Greenie’s Top 10 Wish List

Because of my health problems I have been a non-toxic greenie for 28 years. Since we had so many medical expenses in the early years I used to yearn for the day when I could have an organic bed, or organic soil shipped in for a vegetable garden (which I still dream of, every year).
Interestingly, my wish list hasn’t changed much, and some of my desires have been achieved, such as an organic bed, and I have one hand-dyed, organic wool Tibetan carpet. The designs are of the medicinal plants of Tibet. What perfect imagery/energy to have in my living room. Here are my top 10 wishes for greenness; I am very curious to hear about yours.
1. Organic wool bedding, including mattress, pillow, and comforter. Organic bamboo sheets.
2. Hand-dyed, organic wool Tibetan carpets.
3. Organic fruits, veggies, and dairy delivered every week, 12 months a year.
4. Geothermal heating system.
5. A water filter that alkalinizes the water.
6. Organic wool cushions for all of my couches and stuffed chairs.
7. Zero-VOC paint colored with natural minerals for beautiful, mellow hues.
8. A local manicurist who does 100 percent natural manicures.
9. A vacation in an eco-hut on St. John, in the Caribbean
10. A hip franchise with non-toxic/green cosmetics and hair care products for teenagers.
I didn’t even get to the clothes and shoes. What is on your green wish list?

I wish that that all things organic and fairtrade will come down in price. Too many times I have tried to purchase beautiful organic cotton clothes but have not been able to because of budget constraints. Same goes for organic foods. I purchase certain things organic but I would love if I could afford to have a totally organic diet.

Great thread here!
I wish to see the vegan lifestyle to be more accepted and adopted worldwide. It is, in my opinion, the single most effective "green" step one can make.

1. Books made from sustainable sources (recycled paper, non bleached, etc). As books are my biggest luxury, it would be my greatest footprint minimizer.
2. Solar Electricity throughout my house and office
3. Grey water system for our house and office
4. Organic clothing in shops (currently I can only buy online) - HEMP available for everything!
5. Organic, fair trade and local furniture
6. Solar car
7. A fully established vegetable and herb garden, along with a few ducks, a goat and a pig - not for eating, the ducks eradicate snails and the like, pigs are great for shoveling out weeds and the goat is an excellent grass cutter.
8. Water filters on every tap, including the bath and shower (of course a government body that realizes water as a living organism and treats it accordingly, would be great for everyone, but I am happy with baby steps).
9. A fruit orchard. OR instead of having supermarkets and malls, we should have small farms where you can go and buy the fruit and veggies readily picked and washed.
10. A beauty salon that only uses organic and chemical free products. Mind you, a beauty salon that gives seminars on inner strength and beauty whilst halving the amount of services (especially the harmful ones that peel and burn) that women feel convinced is necessary.
I am already on chemical free household and washing cleaners, as well as on beauty products and shampoos etc. so that will conclude my wish list.

My list would have to include solar panels for the roof, an organic garden and compost pile (with a gardener to take care of it), drought-resistant landscaping in my front yard to replace the lawn, bamboo bedding and an all-organic cotton wardrobe.

Great List. Mine are a bit different - rural Irish Organic farmer running the towns only fully organic shop - fruit, veggies & wholefoods and home delivery service.
1: electric van for the delivery service
2: 2-3 wind generators on the farm, to power for the "house", charging the van and for farm use.
3: more local organic growers in the area, so I can cut down the imports
4: a hive of bees (doing this next year!!!!)
5: a few chickens to have our own eggs - (this too)
6: a local shop selling fair traded organic clothes
7: a similar "fair trade / sustainable" mark for european produce
8: not to be addicted to green and blacks ginger chocolate
9: cleaner water in Ireland and no flouride
10: more trees- especially food ones
Thanks,
Claire in Kerry
