5 Recipes for No-Churn Ice Cream

5 Recipes for No-Churn Ice Cream

Summer is just around the corner, and one of the first things my mind goes to when I think warmer weather is ice cream. I simply can’t get enough of its double-scoop goodness. And really, this versatile and decadent treat can be eaten year-round, especially if you’re a huge fan like me. Colder temps certainly don’t shy me away from the sweet stuff.

But one of the major drawbacks of going out for ice cream is that it can get pricey – up to $5 per person depending on where you go. So naturally, a lot of people prefer to make their own at home. But one of the problems you run into there is that it can be a lengthy and equally-costly process after purchasing all of the ingredients.

And the worst part of making it yourself? Most recipes require an ice cream maker, which is another expensive piece of equipment that takes up a lot of room to store. And being the minimalist that I am, that doesn’t fly in my kitchen, no matter how fanatical I am over the stuff.

But ice cream lovers can rejoice because there’s a new kind of recipe on the block that averts all of these problems: No-churn.

This variation doesn’t require any equipment, and can also involve far fewer ingredients than traditional ice cream recipes, making it much more cost effective and simple. This new trend in desserts seems to be catching on quick as it’s all bloggers and recipe sites have been posting lately. You’ll can find recipes for just about any flavor you want, from the simplest of strawberries to the most complex berry banana crunch.

To get you started on this simplified ice cream adventure, here are five of our favorites:

No-churn Coffee Ice Cream with Cacao Nibs. Love coffee? Love chocolate. If you answered yes to either of these, then you need this ice cream in your life from Vanilla Bean Blog.

Chocolate Mint Ice Cream. I was never a huge fan of chocolate mint desserts, until I tried the ice cream version. This gorgeous and simple recipe from Bits of Sunshine only requires five ingredients – and make that four if you leave out the green food coloring.

Easy Homemade Ice Cream Without a Machine. Kevin and Amanda have outdone themselves in this all-things no-churn ice cream post that includes four stellar recipes, including flavors like Krispy Kreme Doughnut, Cinnamon Bun, and our favorite, Nutella Peanut Butter Chip!

Two Simple Secrets to Making Luscious Ice Cream without a Machine. Jules at The Stone Soup is a lovely Aussie who shares her tips on how to make the perfect no-churn with just three ingredients – yes three! You simply must check them out, even if it’s just to snag her homemade lemon ice cream recipe.

Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. If cheesecake is your forte, then this recipe is the one for you. It comes from Kitchen Simplicity and calls for real cream cheese and decadent blueberry syrup – a combination that makes this ice cream better than the real slice.

Convinced of the magic of simple? We hope so. Now jump on the no-churn train! We’re almost certain you’ll never look back.
