Adele to Retreat from Air Pollution

Adele to Retreat from Air Pollution

Grammy-nominated singer Adele has been reported to be looking for a home in the country to aid in recuperating from vocal surgery. Air pollution has been cited as one factor in her decision to leave her current residence in London, “The idea is for her to live in the countryside, away from the capital’s smog and pollution.” (Source: Stuff New Zealand)

According to an Ear, Nose and Throat clinic,  smoke and air pollution may irritate the voice. She has been said to be looking for a home in West Sussex, which is about forty miles from London and much less densely populated.

Over fifty years ago several thousand Londoners died due to a dense, persistent mix of heavy fog and smoke from coal fires, which blanketed the city. Smog in the city has been decreased greatly since then, but it still remains a health hazard on days when elevated, such as a period last Easter when the government issued an alert, “Monitors on the traffic-choked Marylebone Road were showing readings breaching European Union limits on ozone and pollutant particles linked to respiratory and other health problems.” (Source: The Guardian)

Adele might just clean up at the Grammy’s this year, and she is trying to heal so she can perform at the awards ceremony.  She experienced a vocal fold hemorrhage which caused her to halt a successful concert tour in October. Bleeding in the vocal fold is caused by overuse. She had surgery in November and her doctor said it was a successful procedure. After the surgery she sometimes used a digital voice generator to do her talking for her when ordering a coffee or a cab, to rest her vocal chords. A full recovery is expected.

Wow, what about all the others, not as fortunate to be able to choose where they live, getting "smogged" out of voice and life?

I've seen this before, madonna said it, as did Kylie minogue as does many of them, what's going to happen now is; she'll only do 6 performances a year, and 5 of those will be mimed,
She is the great white hype, and her voice is soulless, this problem with her throat is probably the best thing that can happen to her, it might give it some character  and some angst, ...some emotion as she strains to get the note, her insipid white bread voice is so dull and monotone, and her singing technique is obviously wrong as she has strained her voice. If she sang right, and not in a forced imitation of her idol Amy, or any of her idols. Then this would not have happened. As for her complaining about the pollution ruining her voice, she smokes 40 ciggies a day! I for one would not enjoy "'Rolling in the deep 'folds of her fat'"
...Why did the chicken cross the road? To get away from Adele!

Adlele is a wonderful talent. I believe her producers need to let her move when she sings. Their insistence that she sit while she sings has a lot to do with the pressure build up in her body of energy against her vocal chords. Wishing her much success for the Awards presentations.

I love you Adele! You are one of the only TRUE artists out there nowadays and you deserve this success. Please heal up soon so we can hear your amazingly talented voice sing once again!
