Flattering someone in order to get what you want is a completely legitimate tactic -- but if you rely on it too often with the same people, it's going to start backfiring. If you need to ask someone a big favor or enter into a sensitive conversation topic today, don't be overly obvious about just how smart, attractive, clever, witty or whatever else you think they are.
