Let's face it: even an organic frozen dinner is still a frozen dinner. The benefit of cooking your own meals is you know exactly what goes in them without the weird chemicals and preservatives. Even if your schedule is hectic, chances are you can cook once a week. Try making extra and freezing the leftovers for your own convenience meals.

You're right. For some reason, I hadn't connected drive-through banking and snack buying with idling. Why, I don't know. I'll definitely mend my ways...

Is it kosher to dilute it with soap and water and pour it down the drain with hot water. After this, I clean the drain with baking soda and vinegar. (I do this weekly anyway to keep the drains unclogged.) I also save small quantities of grease for frying green tomatoes, etc.

There are other ways to reach out if you're tired and want to stay at home. Invite individual friends in for tea (less effort and stress) and share your largesse of seasonal fruit and vegetables with your friends.

Thanks, this advice is very timely. I live in a large seniors apartment building. Many seniors, for a variety of reasons, aren't going to use their newly acquired compost boxes supplied by the city. I do try to be ecologically sensitive in my lifestyle but I don't want to 'preach' to these tenants. Some are infirm and can't manage the walk downstairs to the outside bins. Some are reliant on others for household chores so this is a potential problems and some tenants think it's an imposition on their time and money (buying compostable liners). I would guess that participants in the program is/will be minimal. Some activities that able-bodied persons find a snap are impossible for those with mental or physical barriers to full participation in their lives and communities. I'll just continue to follow my 'green' program in my household. Hopefully my example may encourage others to participate but I'll only discuss the program with those who potentially could particpate with ease. Fill and dump those household organics in the green bin!

It's easiest to clean up our physical surroundings but that does help one emotionally too. I've been working at this project for the last while. It's beginning to show obvious results.

It's funny I'm already doing all what they are suggesting me to do
