The BBC is known for ingenious remote camera devices used for recording wild animals in their natural habitats. Just witness this mobile camera system covered in mirrors. It blends into whatever habitat it occupies by reflecting the context it is in back to any animals who might be suspicious. It also is on tank-like rolling treads so it can move through challenging terrain. The black bears recorded by it seemed oblivious to the fact they are being documented.
Even more impressive is their combo unit, which uses a remotely controlled snow rover holding a white ball with its own camera. The snow rover uses twin rear propellers to push it over the snow to get close to the bears and deploy the ball camera. It appears the ball camera also has some kind of capacity to move itself.
