Being in the Dharma

Being in the Dharma

Adapted from The Book of Secrets, by Deepak Chopra (Three Rivers Press, 2004).

If you look carefully at the critical turning points in your life, you’ll see how closely you were paying attention to your spiritual evolution:

• You were ready to move forward. The experience of your old reality was worn out and ready for change.
• You were ready to pay attention. When the opportunity arrived, you noticed it and took the necessary leap.
• The environment supported you. When you moved forward, events fell into place to ensure that you didn’t backslide.
• You felt more expanded and free in your new place.
• You saw yourself as in some way a new person.

This set of circumstances, both inner and outer, is what Dharma provides. Which is to say that when you feel ready to move forward, reality shifts to show you how. And when you aren’t ready to move forward? Then there is the backup system which moves you forward by repeating those tendencies that are embedded in you from the past.
When you find yourself stuck and unable to make any progress at all, the following circumstances usually apply:

• You aren’t ready to move.
• You aren’t paying attention.
• The environment won’t support you.
• You feel threatened by the expansion you would have to make.
• You keep seeing yourself as the old person who adapted to an old situation.

Your last sentence says it all Nancy,it feels to me that if you have to ask that question you are probably doing something other then the thing you love, because the thing you love really has no demands other then those that are self-imposed and paying attention is not an act of will,it flows freely from within the act of the creative force of your undertaking, this seems to be one or the most difficult of things to understand and to brake away from.
We have been told what to do and how to do it for so long that our own gifts have been trashed because of the insane mind set regarding the illusion of separation and the idea of scarcity as being real and a necessary part of our life's experience, and maybe it is, i really don't know but i do know sometimes it really sucks.
Personally when i am involved with something i do even though no money is earned that is a love project, if you could even call it a project, doing just for the fun of it, if money happens to come with it, well thats just icing on the cake.
Good luck.

Wow, have I been both of those. Have I been the 2nd set of circumstances that Deepak Chopra shows. And am I now feeling the 1st set of circumstances that Deepak Chopra says is Dharma. Wow, is that close.
Thank you, Deepak. You are truly enlightening. I'm very grateful for your daily wisdoms. And the sharing that you do with all of us so freely. Sincerely. Namaste. With respect and gratitude, and appreciation, too.

Stay in the Now (present moment) Nancy E. where there is no problems. Don't stop believing.

Then, how to interprate the fact than I really want something and work very hard for it and believe in and pay attention to it...and seems like everytime I go one step forward a new challenge appears? uhmm what it is? I need some explanation, please.

Can be, maybe that what I am trying to do is not the right thing for me?.....
