Best Cities for Working Moms
Being a working mother is like real estate: it’s all about location, location, location. ForbesWoman crunched the numbers and came up with its third annual list of the top 50 U.S. cities for working moms. But it’s not just a healthy economy that’s figured into the rankings, it’s also factors that directly impact working moms — childcare expenses, quality of health care and education and average commute times.
This year’s list was the first to look at these less obvious factors, and it had a direct impact on the rankings. New York and Washington, D.C., for instance, dropped down the rankings due to their long commute times and exorbitant childcare costs. It’s interesting then, to consider what other factors could be added to the list, and how these would impact the rankings. What are other important statistics to consider when looking at an area’s hospitality towards working moms? Let us know in the comments!
