Best Gemstones for Your Type

Adapted from What’s Your Dosha, Baby? by Lisa Marie Coffey (Marlowe and Company, 2004).

According to the ancient Hindu system of Ayurveda, we each belong to a particular type, or dosha: fiery Pitta, airy Vata, or earthy Kapha. Our dosha gives us information about how to stay in balance, from the best colors to wear to the right foods to eat and more.

Gemstones have a venerable tradition as healing and spirit-nurturing presences. Once you know your dosha, you can find out which gemstone to wear or carry in order to promote your most vital health and balance. (You can also find out your friends’ types: useful information when you go birthday shopping!)

First, take the fun quiz to learn your dosha, then find out the gemstones that resonate for you. It’s all here:

Thank you that was most interesting!

Samantha Chalek

My birthstone is aquamarine and my favorite earrings, which I wear every day, are ruby (I'm a Vata). Ayurveda makes so much sense to me!

Interesing that I would have the one with the most variety of gems. Thank you.
