Lightening Brown Spots on the Skin

Many of us who are older have a history of excessive exposure to sun, and have developed brown spots on our skin.

Brown spots—age spots or liver spots they are sometimes called—are the result of sun exposure. I’ve seen certain ingredients used over and over again in the hold herbal body care formulas for this problem. The ingredients include vitamin E, aloe vera gel, fruit acids such as lemon juice and organic apply cider vinegar, enzymes such as papaya and pineapple, witch hazel, and horseradish mixed with lemon juice, or milk. I’ve seen my own age spots significantly diminish over a number of months using lemon juice as an astringent and an aloe vera gel and glycerin moisturizer (3/4 parts aloe vera gel, 1/4 part natural vegetable
glycerin).

Pedro,
if your spots are bleeding, do see a dermatologist, confirm its not psoriasis, or other skin condition. Dont scrath & make it bleed. Aloe vera gel will help w/ any itching, apply a thin coat, let dry 5 -7 min, then all routine activities. Apply as often as u like, usually 2x / day gives much relief, and when u stop scratching, it allows things to heal.

Even as an MD, we cant diagnose & treat w/o actually seing the problem, and knowing a full history. .. so Please contact a specialist near you, before jumping to conclusions, or self medicating.

Lemon is a known astringent. Used for rubbing on pimples, it burns 2 min then dries, then wash w./ warm water, & no black spots!! Use the relatively empty halfs under knees or elbows for 1/2 hr as u watch tv, and then wash... they become lighter & softer & smooth. I had darkness around the nailbed from harsh chemicals ( scrubbing for work in a hospital- between cases) they improved w/ just lemon.

Its an excellent antiseptic used in cleaning... lemon fresh scent, 10% real lemon juice, etc. dont underestimate the lemon.

use too often may dry skin, be careful. also avoid soap w/ lemon, as one is acid & the other basic...

lots of luck,

Lucinda Smith

is it real lemons or can u use lemon juice from the bottle.

I'd like to hear a lot more about brown spots and the possibility of a link with cancer.

I love these natural ingredient recommendations. A great alternative. Of course I'm going to add the fact that wearing a full spectrum sun block ON A DAILY BASIS is pivotal in fading the pigmentation as well.

I have the same problem with the brown spots but mines are light browns and sometimes go lighter and sometimes start itching they look like rash. They bothers me cause those brown spots look so bad. I take a shower always. One day I was taking a shower and I start rubbing them with the towel and they start bleeding and after a while like 2 weeks they become the way they were light brown spot, I have even in my neck and when I scratch them they turn like if they were dry and have like scalp. What should I do? Im scared about this. This is about vitamin that the body needs? Please help me and give me some advice.

I have the same problem with the brown spots and I have a few of the brown spots on my belly and my neck and they itching sometimes. This really scared me allot. I hope this is nothing to do with HIV. But I dont think so. What can I do about this situation? Should I take the advice with lemon juice and aloe vera and then try to go to a dermatology?

I have a large brown spot on my shoulder and it embarasses me cos people comment on it. I have spent a fortune on creams etc to no avail, will this work? Just putting lemon juice on, then glycerin and aloe vera?

Dee Baker

This is saying to use the lemon juice as an astringent. What it is saying is to put lemon juice on your spots (if you have a few of them use a cotton ball to apply) after it drys put on the aloe vera & glyserin. Good Luck!
