I saw my first Flying Fox in a Pet Shop when I was just 15 years old and was able to pat it and she so impressed me. She was not for sale, but was kept there. Many years later I saw and learned about the several varieties of bats, but the Flying Fox was my favourite. I live in the far North of Queensland ans have seen the evening sky darken with the flocks of Flying Foxes coming in to devour the fruits on the trees during the night. Yes it is true many people hate them, many are scared they they too might carry the diseases that Bats do. I still think of the poor beautiful girl in the Pet Shop of long ago missing her part of flying free with her family. There is a lady near us that runs a Bat Hospital, and Jenny does a lot to try and educate people and Governments on their value. I love the name as s/he sings so well. Thank you for looking after our precious animals.
