Doga: Yoga for Your Dog (video)

Doga: You bring your dog to class, do your poses, and encourage your canine companion to practice along with you.

Watch Bo and Coco do breathing, stretching and meditation.

As you will see from the video, sometimes it works and sometimes the dog wanders off. If it doesn’t relieve dog stress, it increases bonding for sure. What more can you ask?

I love this. I think it's hilarious and really inventive that people would take the time out of their day to do yoga with their dogs. It's a good way to take time out of your day to get your own physical workout, and also a way to improve your dogs health and make time to bond with your dog as well. I think way too many people get dogs and then don't have time for them in their day to day lives. The dogs spend the majority of the day cooped up in a house by themselves while their owners are at work, and by the time they get home, they are too tired to play with the dog and give it attention. Yoga seems a little weird for a dog to be doing, but if it's a fun way to make time for your dog as well as make time for your own personal well-being, why not?

It's wonderful to see people love and bond with their dogs. But why wouldn't a person - all people - who understand how precious a companion a dog is, want to do something for dogs who suffer around the world. Do you know that in many Asian countries dogs are eaten as food? They are considered a bit of a delicacy, but there is preparation involved. Most of these cultures believe that severe stress, pain and prolonged suffering by the dog is essential for the "juices" to flow and make the dog taste best. Sometimes this same prolonged suffering is meant to increase men's sexual prowess as well. Dogs are also used for fur - for the export market to be mislabeled as some other animal. Dogs are raised in horrible conditions, or stolen off the streets, jam-packed into cages and hauled off to be slaughtered - in huge numbers. China is particularly infamous for this, and you may have seen the video of the raccoon dogs being skinned alive. If you haven't, you should, but it will give you nightmares. St. Bernards are popular dogs - to eat, and to make their skin and fur into rugs to be sold for large amounts of money. You may not believe me, so I will suggest a few sites to visit - if you care about dogs. Yoga for dogs is cute. But wouldn't it be much better to share our love with dogs suffering around the world?

I agree with Pamela Z. A little fox trot, horseplay, monkeying around and catwalk around the block before Doga would reduce the need for so much baiting help the dogs focus more on their meditation. Om . . . . . . .
