Famous Detox Lemonade

There is no doubt that we live in a toxic world and sometimes our bodies need some help coping with big exposures such as when the neighbor uses a lot of herbicides on their lawn. Here is a famous detox remedy for times when you know that you are chemically overloaded. It is bittersweet with some spice.

Considered the “Master Cleanse” drink, it reportedly helps your body to heal itself.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about the equivalent of the juice of one lemon)
1/6th of a teaspoon (or a pinch) of cayenne
1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup
10 oz. filtered water

Combine ingredients in a glass, stir to blend, and drink. Drink a glass for four-five days in a row for best results.

Note: If you choose to drink this while fasting please consult your doctor.

Does anyone have any tips on how to resist any temptations? I managed a couple days but found it very difficult... :(

I like the above thought. The things which are mentioned are wonderful and doesn't require any further addition.

maybe I'm blind, but where is the "ginger" listed in this recipe that everyone is mentioning?????

Refreshing. I have eaten spicy food - I'm sure I can drink lemonade with cayenne and ginger.

You drink the lemon mixture throughout the day. The book says to drink 6 - 12 10 oz. servings a day. I'm sure you can drink water too, but the lemon mixture has all the nutrients you need to sustain yourself. After the first couple days, you'll feel so much better and energized. I just finished an 11 day fast on this mixture and was amazed at how great I felt, how much energy I had, and how my skin was brighter and any aches I had vanished. I lost 10 lbs. and never feel as good as I do on this fast. It is truly a miracle cleanser!!!

So im not very clear on what else i am suppose to drink while drinking this detox drink? Just water or are other juices allowed?

Julie Evans

My husband and I did this cleanse last year as a 10-dy fast bc of feeling lethargic and weighed down by ingesting processed everything. We felt amazing, and our energy levels were higher than we could ever remember. We ate nothing else and drank only water. But that is not all there is to this as it is a toxic cleanse. The lemons must be organic and the Grade B maple syrup must be Grade B and must also be organic. Otherwise you are still putting ingesting toxins. There is a saltwater cleanse for the morning but you better not leave the house for an hour or two...and a laxative herbal tea at night which i abandoned bc i don't like abdominal cramps. I still felt like I benefitted tremendously.
I believe it is a wonderful way to detoxify and also clear your mind about some food addictions. Warning: it is worth it to do the cleanse by the book if you are fasting, especially the saltwater flush in the morning - do it right and the PH and salt content are the same as your own tears - do it wrong and your body may have trouble understanding what to do with the saltwater...
Good Luck!

Hi Mark, Renny, Chrissy, and Narda...
Mark appears to have the same great response to this"Master Cleanse" that I have had over the years.
And, to my understanding, yes, the cayenne is necessary. Once you get over the initial shock of heat, it doesn't seem to get hotter--well, for me at least. In herb books cayenne is said to support the circulatory system--espc. at the capillary level--and allegedly does not hurt ulcers. It is high in Vit. C. It also is said to kick the effects of the other herbs you are taking up a notch. Remember, with Cayenne, hot in, unremarkable out.. unlike certain other chilies.
I have never used ginger in my drink. I will probably try the black strap molasses substitute for the maple syrup one day. Maple syrup is very high in natural minerals.
If you go clear back into the archives around June 19, 2007, there were extensive conversations re: this cleanse. Always use your common sense and discretion. Cleanses are for that--to cleanse. Some people lose wt. some do not. The proportions in the Master Cleanse book are in those 6-19, 18, 20 emails. Good Luck! and breathe... sj
