Today, July 23, bloggers around the world are participating in Bloggers Unite for Dog Rescue, an initiative started by Be the Change for Animals to raise awareness on the importance of pet adoption. According to the Humane Society of the United States, “Nationwide, only about 20 percent of dogs in homes come from shelters—the rest come from other sources. It would only take a relatively small increase in the adoption rate along with a modest reduction in the birth rate to go a long way toward solving the problem of euthanizing healthy and treatable dogs in many communities.”
What you can do to help:
When I came across this video on Life with Dogs, it brought a huge smile to my face. No fancy tricks here, just a rescue dog expressing his love of life and all the things that bring him joy. I’m quite certain it will brighten your day as well. Enjoy!
Have you adopted from a shelter or rescue? Thanks for posting a comment and sharing a story of how your rescue dog has brought a smile to your face and made you feel good.

+ add your ownWhy am I commenting this in the midst of the Winter that in our country (Russia) often appears to be especially severe? Because in the Winter stray pets need even more attention in our climate. I take care of our shepherd dog along with my wife. And I also regularly give crops to sparrows and other birds in our neighborhood.
They make the poor beastie wear pajamas maybe it still needs rescuing.
I love to see dogs being so happy. If only they all could be.
Love, love, love it
Awesome!
Awesome!
Great!
We need to work hard at spreading the word that adopting is the way to go!
But we have to find a way to stop the breeding..."professional breeders" although so many people pay to get a pet, many of these animals just end up on the street.
And don't get me started with puppy mills...so many animals treated so bad, terrible! Suffering with where they're kept, how they're treated, where and who they go to, not to mention all the illnesses that they're born with!
