Fight Inflammation Six Simple Ways

By the Care2 Staff.
Chronic inflammation is not only a leading cause of painful joints, it is also implicated in a host of health problems including cancer, overweight, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease. America is sometimes called the “Inflammation Nation” because our diet and lifestyle puts us at risk for this condition. Here are six simple ways to combat inflammation to improve your health and wellbeing.
1. Eat more anti-inflammatory foods. Avoid trans fats and corn syrup. Instead, choose foods high in inflammation-fighting properties like extra-virgin olive oil, whole grains, and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits.
2. Get sufficient sleep. Most of us don’t get enough. Aim for 8 hours a night.
3. Relax! When we give ourselves the gift of deep relaxation we help our bodies put out the inflammation fire.
4. Lower your stress levels. High levels of stress are a leading factor in inflammation.
5. Keep your weight at a healthy-for-you level. Ironically, not dieting but eating MORE anti-inflammatory foods will actually help you to do this!
6. Exercise. As little as 30 minutes of walking on most days will be hugely beneficial.

add your comment »Ginger, apple cider vinegar, herbal tea, celery, lots of green vegeatble helps the inflammation a lot plus getting enough rest & sleep. If you get uptight , the adrenalin keeps being released & this also causes the body to get "sour", but we need to get alkaline, then the inflammation will get down.

Some years ago, I shattered my knee in a slip & fall accident. For two years after reconstruction, I was still on large doses of Percocet and ketoprofen for the pain and swelling in that joint (there was a horizontal area under my patella about the size and shape of a hot dog bun).
Then I read something about the antiinflammatory properties of ginger. I started taking 2-4 capsules a day and in just over a month, the swelling was all but gone, the pain was nonexistent, and I had ditched the cane and limp. Ginger is now a daily routine and I also eat it every way possible. I've had several arthritic relatives try it as well, with equally good results. Not many things this cheap that can do so much good, and I think it's a shame more people don't know about it. Ginger is not just for motion sickness or xmas cookies! :)

When I have a morning backache, it's because my "Atlas" is out.
That's the top bone of the spine, and if it's not in place, then my lower back just kills me. The only kind of chiropractor that can fix it correctly is a NUCCA practitioner, and he will have to xray your neck to know how to put the bone in place. Adjustments are painless and don't involve yanking your head around. In fact, that kind of chiropractic can put your Atlas out of place. See the NUCCA website, and find a NUCCA practitioner near you.
Oh, and when they get your Atlas back in place, you won't have to keep going to see them. They will want to check it at regular intervals after they have adjusted, and it may need to be put back a few times (blame your body's habits, especially if you have been out of adjustment a long time). Don't try to force your neck or back, as it has "compensated" by putting another part of your spine out. But, once the atlas is back in, your body will correct the rest of the spine over time. If you feel discomfort, "breathe into" the spot until your own internal chi effects the change and heals your back. But, also check with your NUCCA chiropractor to be sure the Atlas is still in the right place. He will check that your leg length is even, and that your hips are level, and that your weight is the same on both feet (two scales), to know if the Atlas is holding it's adjustment. Atlas is C1, and C2 will also go back in place with it.
May you become pain free soon!

Hi,
I have found that UDO's oil works really well for my joint and back pain. Also since we couldn't agree on a different type of bed, my husband and I got a waterbed that has tubes filled with water inside it so we could each adjust the amount of water on our side. That plus putting two of those foam pads with one bumpy and one smooth side (bumpy side towards your body) on top of each other on my side really helped. Take at least two tablespoons of UDO's a day and keep it in the fridge very cold. Hopefully it will help you. I drink a bit of hot tea or water after taking the oil to help it disburse..it doesn't taste really bad, kind woodsy. The first time I took it the phrase from Uell Gibbons, "reminds me of wild hickory nuts," from his old Grapenuts commercials came to mind.
Best Wishes,
Celeste
