5 Clever and Convenient Compost Solutions

With Earth Day around the corner, we’re aiming to be more responsible composters here at Gardenista. We admit, our impulse is to scrape the dinner plates into the sink, whirl the disposal, and be done with it. So, we’re looking to these genius ideas for inspiration.

And you? Do you keep a lidded pail on the counter? Tell us your techniques in the comment section below.

I live in an apartment, but still compost. I keep a large bin for soil, compost on my patio. In winter, I throw all scraps straight in. In summer, when I may need the soil to pot herbs and veg, I run the scraps through my food processor and then into the compost/soil bin. I enjoy thinking that my plants have a healthy start.

A 2litre lidded plastic container on the counter is cheat and functional.I then empty onto newspaper to carry out to compost bin. Easy.
