5 Holiday Soups and Stews

A soothing bowl of soup or stew is just what the Wise Woman ordered during the frantic holiday season. One-pot meals are easy on the cook, and these five favorites are chock-full of health-promoting ingredients (like garlic, for instance) to help keep you and your family healthy this winter.

Try the White Bean Soup, a winter favorite in the Tuscan countryside, or the marvelously healing Ten Mothers Garlic Soup. There is a spicy Kwanzaa-inspired African Potato Stew, a meatless Split Pea Soup with crunchy toasted croutons, and a tender Corn and Sweet Potato Chowder. Just add a loaf of crusty bread and a crisp salad and dinner is served–comforting, warming, and delicious. Here are the recipes:
