F@%K is a bad word, Famine is Worse

1 minute and 1 second is all it takes to watch one.org’s video on famine in the Horn of Africa. Take the time.

Famine is man made.
It should not be the case.

30,000 children have died in the past 3 months from hunger. How many more are going to die before the situation is given the attention it needs?

Abnormally high food prices, lack of security and governance in Somalia, and a lack of investment in the Horn have led to this crisis.

This is the worst drought in 30 years.
200 million more people are on the brink and in need of help.

We created Milkshake so we could have a voice – on fun stuff and real stuff. This is one of those big issues that we ask you to stop for a minute to take the time to sign a petition encouraging Congress to fund Feed the Future and help break the cycle of famine for good.

Mori H: thank you for seeing through the veil and mist. hats off to you.

Famine in Somalia was posted before on care2 as well but met with cold denial by many members. i suppose because most thought they were muslims and since the US is at war with muslims, they should not be helped.

I take a humanistic approach. if there is mafia there, if there are warloards there, that didn't stop the US from helping Afghans or even Pakistan. So why can't Somalia be helped?

In our hatred for muslims or racism or whatever else that keeps us from helping someone, we forgot to be human.

Famine could increasingly happen due to climate-change droughts.

YES! Famine is a tragedy! YES hunger is preventable! but Beware of Wolves in sheeps clothing. I am so horrified at what our Government is doing. Please do not take my word for this. Just google search Feed the Future and GM technology or BT eggplant India, and you will see where the money goes and it's name is Monsanto. I would not easily believe that human beings would sacrifice children to promote their technology but that is what is going on today. Remember the brave farmers in Haiti who burned the seeds sent to them? They knew that once they planted biotech seeds they were slaves forever to Monsanto and to GM technology and that their way of life, seed saving and true independence was lost forever. Hunger is a crime but the bigger and more insidious horror is our Government and Monsanto.
