People eat many animals and most are slaughtered in horrible ways. This is one ban that needs to be put in place immediately. I don't care how good this tastes. I don't care how good a dog, cat, horse or cow tastes. We don't need to eat meat. And we definitely don't need to torture animals for any reason.

My French cat still insists on being served foie gras.

I'm pretty certain the law only bans shops and restaurants from selling it. I would be surprised if they could stop it from being mailed into the State. Don't know how they would even enforce that.

Flopi D - You have not been paying attention. These poor geese are not "fed grain" They have it forceably stuffed down their throats far beyond their natural capacity. .... How would you like it if - after you had eaten your evening meal someone then forced another two or three meals down your gullett ? And then came back and did the same after every meal.?

Foie gras is not a fad, it has been a tradition for centuries. It is cruel, i agree, but it is not bought by unconscious customers, it's made with the fresh liver of animals reared in the wild and fed fresh grain. Unlike most meat in the shops...
Also, in France it is quite cheap.
