Green Girl Blocks Cell Phone Radiation

Green Girl Blocks Cell Phone Radiation

I’ve been realizing recently how much I am glued to my cell phone. At school, it is my only phone. At home, people never call my house anymore, only my cell. Nor do I ever call any of my friends’ houses. My phone is always in my pocket, in my purse, or within an arm span of me. When I thought I lost my phone a month back, I was panicked. I needed it.

Now, I don’t get a lot of service in my house (one of the perks of living in the middle of the woods), and so using a cell phone becomes quite a hassle. I often lose service in the middle of a call, or have to roam my house searching for enough signal to send a text message. And yet, I still do not resort to the seemingly old fashioned home phone. Kind of ridiculous, when you think about it. But the world has totally changed over the past couple of years, it seems, and now cell phones, even with their service issues and expenses, have taken precedence over the perhaps more practical home phone.

It seems like only yesterday that a cell company was trying to build a tower within a mile of my house. Really, though, it was a good five years ago. Mother protested, saying that we absolutely could not live that close to such a mountain of radiofrequency energy. They didn’t build it in the end (thank the gods). At the time, I merely thought, “Well, who cares? It’s not like I need my cell phone when I’m home.” Oh, how much has changed. It would be nice to have good reception here, but seriously, who would want a barricade of radiation around them at all times? Not me. Don’t we get enough from all of the other appliances in our houses, and from our laptops, and especially from the cell phones that are glued to everyone’s hips?

Indeed, we do. Electronics emit electromagnetic fields (EMFs) over a distance, and as that distance decreases, radiation increases. Cell phones in specific emit radiofrequency energy, or radiowaves, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation.

For those of us (aka most of the population) who have our phones on us at all times, we are getting the highest rates of radiation possible, at all times. Not so good, huh? Plus, EMF radiation has been linked to cancer (in particular leukemia), birth defects, damage to reproductive organs, tumors, stress, miscarriages, and heart problems–as you can learn here and here.

With all of this electromagnetic radiation and the intense heat that is given off when cell phones are in use (yes, right next to your brain), it is no wonder that many researchers are finding correlations between cell use and brain tumors. Cell phones have also been shown to change brain activity, sleep patterns, and reaction times.

Perhaps not the ideal outcome of the cell phone phenomena. So, what can you do about it? Well, there are many radiation blockers on the market. I use one made by BioPro Technology–my friends call it “the bug,” because it’s a little black oval-shaped blocker that sticks onto the back of my phone. It looks like a bug. But, in all honesty, I can tell the difference. It’s like I can feel fewer EMFs seeping into my brain. What more can you ask for? Here is another one that looks pretty legit–it has their studies published directly on the site, so see for yourself!

Note to self: Stick with the bug.

I never even owned a cell phone, only a cordless phone (which is just as bad), and now the cell phone towers and antennas are making me and my loved ones sick...

Does anybody know the "GREEN" cellular service provider? been serching,..

The "research" on the website is extremely questionable, they used no statistics to justify their claims. If it was so easy to block cell phone EMF waves, don't you think cell phone companies would have already made modifications? Imagine how many EMF free phones they would sell after the initial release. Fishy placebo.

Thank you!
I'll check out the bug and make my family and friends get bugs too :-)

Maybe we should start to question why there are so many things in place that can harm ourselves? And so many things are needed, like food and water, or irresistible like cell phones and video games, tv's and so on. Ever wonder if some things are put in place on purpose? Taint our food, put radiation right in front of us...

Randy J. is right. And every electronic device that has ever been made will and does produce some radiation. It's an evil we have to adjust to if we are to advance in electronics. But there are many ways of protecting yourself and we should persue every bit of it as we can. One day, hopefully, industry will become more concerned over our health and produce devices that are more safe. Until then, it's up to us!

OLA!
I have been reading a site that sells an ear phone that blocks the cell phone radiation--- mercola.com--- he has research showing the harm that cell phones do--- to you ---
This site has been very helpful-- This is the first time to Green Girl's --- for me--
later me:)

I wanted to add that I recently got the "bug" Lily talkes about and put it on my phone. I am very sensitive to radiofrequencies and could usually only talk on the cell for 10 minutes before I'd get a special kind of headache. Not that I am proud of it, but I just talked on the cell for an hour with one of my sisters (call it a multi-tasking nightmare, the only chance I had to talk with her was when shopping in the grocery store), and my head didn't hurt at all and still doesn't. It was remarkable, the difference.

Lily, are you concerned about how NIMBY elitist you sound here? "Yes, I absolutely can't live without a cell phone, but don't put a tower in my neighborhood." I'm sorry, this isn't environmentalism, it's hypocrisy. If you're consuming stuff, you're driving the production processes that you decry, no matter how much you criticize those processes. There's an easier way. Stop demanding the stuff!

If you want to be safe from cell phone EMFs, don't use cell phones. I don't own one, and I function perfectly well in this society.

I still hate 'em and probably always will. What irks me most is when someone or a company wants my number and I give my land line number. They look at me and say "can't we have your cell number?" I tell 'em "no, I'm likely not to answer it anyway so just call the land line." Duh. If I give you my land line THAT is the number I want you to use - isn't that obvious? I still honestly believe the things should be used for emergency purposes only, but that's just me. However, in coutries where land line rates are higher than cellular than I guess it's ok...but heck you don't have to be on it every second of every day - would you be on a land line that long if you were at home? Ugh.
