Greener Public Transportation

By the Care2 Staff.

Using public transportation is often a greener alternative than driving solo in your car. Insist on greener mass transit. Here are some things you can do:

1. Contact area representatives to suggest upgrading diesel buses to biodiesel or Liquified Natural Gas.

2. Write to your local paper, meet with local government officials, join an advocacy group. Let it be known that you want positive change.

3. Commit to substituting mass transit for at least one solo car trip per week, if possible.

Many public transit systems offer monthly passes. You can support transit and reduce the hassle of using the bus by getting one. It also provides some insurance if your car should break down, you can still use the bus while it's in the shop, especially is you keep the transit system's map in your car.
