Hindu Blessing for Your Body

In this age of hating our bodies—trying to carve and starve them into conforming to some unattainable ideal—there is great healing in reading and sharing this beautiful ancient Hindu prayer at mealtime or any time. Read this Hindu blessing for our bodies, just as they are, here:

I recognize you are the temple
in which my spirit and creative energy dwell.
I have created you from my need
to have my spirit manifested on earth
so that I may have this time to learn and grow.
I offer you this food so that you may continue
to sustain my creative energy, my spirit, my soul.
I offer this food to you with love,
and a sincere desire for you to remain free
from disease and disharmony.

I accept you as my own creation.

I need you.

I love you.

The body is the temple , Yoga and herbs and cultivation of the spirit are up against the surgeons knife for distorting plastic uplifts. It is your choice

So often we take our bodies for granted until something goes wrong. This beautiful prayer helps us to honour our bodies and establish a good relationship between food and our bodies making us more consciously aware of the relationship between both. This is such a loving beautiful Blessing, thank you so much. www.GrassdancerEssences.com

There's truth in the statement "I accept you as my own creation." After God has infused the spirit in us, the responsibility to look after our body is ours. It's our look out if we keep it healthy, treat it with love and respect or the other way around. Thanks for the wonderful prayer.

Thank you in this calming spirit.

It's too easy to take our bodies for granted. I've recently come through sudden emergency surgery [for a twisted gut, which is very nasty]. It was a very bad experience but prayer [answered] got me through it. The experience was also a salutary reminder that the body deserves respect and nurture.

God is love and love is God...in every loving deed to yourself or others, we are connected to the highest healing current called love...to be one with it all the time...in every thought, action and speech is the goal...and the way towards self realization.

Thoughtful reflection and prayer before we eat or embark on the day ahead of us DOES transform those acts in such a positive way...appreciation for what we are given and what we are able to do makes it very hard to walk around throwing grimness and despair on those with whom we interact. (Thank God!!!)

So many of us have such a loathing for our bodies. I love this prayer because it reminds us that we, meaning the God within, crafted this vessel as a means of fulfilling our karma on this earth. It is my belief that there is not a cell, a vein, a piece of hair or fold of skin that was not brought about by a specific intention. I do shamanic journeys, sometimes for healing, and recently I have been undergoing a sort of ego death which has caused me great distress. During one of my journeys I called out (much like a 5 year old child) "you can't make me do this, I won't do this!" To which my guides gently answered, "We are not asking you to do this. You already agreed to this...we are just reminding you." I include this because I think the same understanding needs to be extended to our temples--our bodies. We agreed to this form and there are no mistakes in it. It is part of the lesson and the wisdom and growth that is possible in this incarnation. How wonderful it would be if we could open ourselves to learning from it and embrassing the possibilities it holds rather than the limitations. Blessings to you and your temples and thanks for letting me share.
