Homemade Cranberry Lip Gloss

I just read in Variety magazine that women swallow 4 pounds of lipstick in their lifetime. Imagine a pound of butter, in lipstick, and eating four of them. And have you checked the ingredients in lipstick lately? Here’s an idea–make your own with all healthy ingredients, then at least you know what you’re eating. This recipe from the National Honey Board uses yummy ingredients to make your kisser sweet and shiny, and you can feel free to lick your lips all day long.

INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
10 fresh cranberries
1 teaspoon honey
1 drop vitamin E oil

Mix all the ingredients together in the bowl of a double boiler over medium heat and stir until the mixture just begins to boil. Stir well and gently crush the berries. Cool mixture for five minutes and then strain through a fine sieve to remove all the fruit pieces. Stir again and set aside to cool completely. When cool, transfer into a small jar.

Does anyone know of an alternative for the honey? Trying to go vegan and I hate honey anyway.

Luna Rossi

I'm sure you can use any type of veg oil, rose hip could be a good idea!

Thanks Anna for setting me straight on the workings of the forum! I THINK I get it now!!!

Hi Irene, now this message is actually for you:

I'm pretty sure no one thinks this is your recipe. We all came across it on Care 2 and are posting comments in this forum, which results in everyone who signed up to track comments receiving the replies in their inboxes.

Just like Lisa explained, you may think the message is directed to you, but it's really people asking anyone who is willing to reply.

It would help to get an understanding of this public forum idea so you can take part in future discussions without getting confused by who is speaking to who. everyone is talking to everyone!

Irene MacMillan

I CANNOT take the credit for the cranberry lip gloss, it isn't my recipe.

Thanks, Lisa, for the comment you made on Dec. 12th, don't know why I haven't noticed it before today!!!

People:
I don't know how this confusion arised, everyone thinking the cranberry lip gloss was my recipe. I CANNOT take the credit for it, HONEST, it is NOT my recipe. Sorry I can't help you with any questions you may have, I just don't know what to say.

Lala Mcdonald

Sounds cool! I was wondering if there was a way to do it without the almond oil though...

Sudha Chennupati
