Is this Electric Bike Just too Fast?

New E Bike Very Fast and Not Legal
Tech News by NewsLook

Specialized has released its first electric bike, the ‘Turbo,’ and it’s fast. Powered by lithium batteries it runs up to 45 kph or 28 mph without pedaling. The only problem is it goes too fast to be legal in the US, UK and a bunch of other countries. Bummer. Oh and it costs $7300. Photo Credit: bredgur via Flickr.

Electric scooters are more affordable. Who needs this?

I'm to old for it and don't have this kind of money. Would like to think I'd be to smart to buy it as it will pass soon enough anyway.

Just another toy.

I think it is to expensive to be practical for some people, myself included. Since it is motorized it will probably have to be licensed and subject to all kinds of safety requirements and the rider will have to be licensed and wear safety gear. The question then becomes would such an expensive bike be worth it?

Wow...28 mph is not so fast. We just purchased a scooter so that my son can get around in good weather. It does not do well on inclines at all, but, as he is going to university this coming Fall, he needs something. He already has a bike, but, the front tire continually goes flat. We have steep hills, and I can not pedal uphill very far at all. My friends love their electric bikes!
Anyone seen the new invention on the market that pumps air into bike tyres while pedaling when needed? it is online under search for "pump-hub"
