When it comes to happy love relationships, it’s all about your heart. No, not your loving heart, your beating heart.

Turns out, when you and your mate disagree, your heart rate can jump to 100 beats per minute or more, and when that happens, you’re likely to say all the wrong things. Things that you can’t take back in the morning. So if you want your relationship to be loving and lasting, never talk about your problems when you’re really upset. Calm yourself first, then talk.

Happy couples know this. That’s why they don’t buy into the old adage, “Never go to bed angry.” You see, sometimes sleep is just what you need to calm that racing heart, so when you wake up the next day, things will be a little easier to talk about. And that’s good news for your relationship.

Intent.com provides content and community for who you aspire to be–personally, socially and globally.

I'm not sure. Sometimes there's something to be said for a genuine immediate response. Not a mean snipe or a horrible escalating knock-down or anything, but a "from the heart" expression of what you feel at the crucial moment. Ideally followed up by calm in-depth communication later.
