Itís Not Going To Turn Out The Way You Thought

  • 2 of 3

You’ll fall off the turnip truck.

Youíll jump on a different bandwagon than you intended.† Youíll get fired when you thought you ought to be getting hired.

Youíll realize you forgot the outfit you had planned to wear and that the shoes are all wrong now that you have a full-length mirror to see the whole outfit. Your shirt will be wrinkled and youíll spill red wine on your white jeans.

Your dog will eat your five-year plan. Youíll drop your Blackberry in the toilet (at least once.) Your computer will crash and youíll delete the first draft of your magnum opus. Youíll accidentally delete your hard drive and end up with a clean slate.

Youíll show up late to the date with the guy you were sure was going to fit into your husband suit and realize heís less than graceful under stress and not so flexible. (Better to know now than later.)

When you thought youíd be baking pie and living behind your very own white picket fence youíll find yourself doing something so entirely different you couldnít have even imagined it a year before. †There will be moments when youíll look around and not even recognize your own lifeÖin a good way.

You’ll take a wrong turn and end up in an entirely different city than you intended.

Youíll dial the wrong number and end up in love with an entirely different person than you intended.

Youíll flunk out and end up taking five years instead of four to graduate. Youíll have your heart broken when you were sure you were with the one and then meet the other one a month later. Youíll move to a new city to start a new business with those perfect new business partners and then it will all go to shit. And youíll move across the country again only to realize that thatís where you belonged the whole time.

So take your mind off it all by doing things for others, such as battling for the environment, for peace . . . in other words use Care2 to take your mind off your own selfish little interests. I did not get my 1st choice of career . . . not even my 20th come to that. I did not get any of the girls I wanted . . . at 54 I remain single and with virtually no experience of love . . . I do not have the particular Degree I wanted, I had to settle for the same as my career . . . but at least I can go on fighting the bastards and trying to make this a better world for others to live in. I count my blessings rather than feeling sorry for myself. I have nothing to feel sorry about.

what is this "Life" anyway??? It takes a whole lifetime of "mistakes" and "wrong turns" to make a life. John Lennon said "Life is what happens to you while you're making other busy plans" --- I think we bought too high into thinking too rigidly about a "happily ever after" when we should have bought the truth that life is what is happening right now.
The goodness of a life is really measured by the love you are willing to be, and the rest just flows from there in utter beauty. The badness flows from the constriction of a heart that is unwilling to open, and will never be able to receive anything.
