4 Inspiring Bathrooms with Plants

With spring officially under way, we can’t think about anything except gardens—indoors as well as out. Why not in the bathroom, where the humidity level is conducive to all sorts of greenery? Here are a few of our favorite garden-like bathrooms at Gardenista.

Gardenista is a one-stop sourcebook for cultivated living, a guide to outdoor design and gardening. Helmed by former New York Times columnist Michelle Slatalla, Gardenista features inspiration, garden visits, and advice for all things outdoor living, from patios and peonies, to tables and terraces. Gardens matter, and Gardenista celebrates tomatoes on the fire escape as much as rolling acres of green.

My sister gave me a large, green fern to hang from the shower rod. Over several days it shed many green bits and pieces. The second week it shed many green and brown bits and pieces. Each day I would sweep fern pieces and bits from the tub, the sink, the floor. By the third week the fern was all brown and all dead. My bathroom never looked anything like the "4 Inspiring Bathrooms". It was 1 bathroom with 1 expiring fern.

Thank you for the inspiration. Our bathrooms are tiny as well, but one has a window, and I will put these ideas to work. Perhaps it won't seem so tiny.

The interiors of These bathrooms are so nice.
By the way, I once read that snake plant aka mother in law tongue also thrives well in humid places like the bathroom.

This is what I want. To feel as if my home is part of nature instead of it being why there is less nature in the world.
