Man Turns 110, Credits 5 Foods for His Long Life

Bernardo LaPallo is over 110 years old. He truly looks and acts like he is 80, or even younger.

He is a big fan organic fruits and vegetables and regularly consumes 5 foods that his father, a former doctor, told him to eat. His father lived to be 98 years old.

“You are what you eat!” says Bernardo. He also solves crossword puzzles daily and reads books to keep his mind sharp.

Garlic

  • Reduces cholesterol: There many studies that confirm that garlic in several forms can reduce cholesterol.
  • Is an healthy aphrodisiac! Tibetan monks were forbidden from entering the monasteries if they had eaten garlic.
  • Boosts anti-oxidant levels: researchers have widely believed that the organic compound, allicin acts as the world’s most powerful antioxidant.
  • Contains Antibiotic properties: The allicin in garlic helps fight infection and bacteria.

Honey has been called nector of the gods for its many health properties.

Honey

  • Helps prevent cancer and heart disease: honey contains flavonoids, a type of antioxidant that helps reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease.
  • Reduces ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties: “All honey is antibacterial, because the bees add an enzyme that makes hydrogen peroxide,” said Peter Molan, director of the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
  • Increases athletic performance. Ancient Olympic athletes would eat honey and dried figs to enhance their performance. Honey was also called nectar of the gods for its many health properties.
  • Helps reduce cough and throat irritation.
