Men’s Skin Care

Guys’ grooming products can be harsh and aggressive. But men can give their skin the pampering it deserves–and still feel macho–with natural help.

First of all, if you’re plagued by dry skin, take fewer and cooler showers, especially in cold weather, to preserve your body’s natural oils and humectants. When it is time to step in the shower, skip soaps that contain animal products, artificial fragrances, synthetic antibacterial chemicals, and heavy colorants, such as coal-derived Brilliant Blue FCF and Fast Green FCF. All can lead to inflammation or allergic reactions.

If you’re prone to overly oily skin, soaps with mild citrus ingredients may help reduce buildup without drying out the skin. Then, keep skin resilient and healthy by applying a small amount of vegetable-based skin balm or lotion twice a day, and using natural ingredients like aloe vera or shea butter. Don’t forget to add a physical sunblock or sunscreen (titanium dioxide or zinc oxide) with a SPF of at least 15.

Lastly, skip the foaming shave cream. Lathering soaps dry out skin. Also, avoid pore-clogging oils, and opt for mineral-based silicones, such as dimethicone. If you’re prone to razor burn, replace harsh alcohol-based aftershaves with soothing chamomile or vitamin E oil; replace your razor regularly, too.

I started using the Made from Earth Vitamin Enhanced MOISTURZIER when Made from Earth first came on the market years ago. There are two specific reasons why I continue to use it.

I am sensitive to cosmetic product smells and perfumes - I can only use chemical and fragrence free - it certainly does not make my eyes water - and its ability to be absorbed by the skin without leaving a residue, or greasy feeling. Some skin products have left my face dried out even though labeled as "moisturizers". The Made from Earth Moisturizer has this wonderful 'cool' feeling to it.

A $70.00 jar lasts 6 months - do the math. Some over the counter skin products cost over $30.00 and Made from Earth products on the whole, are fiscally sound purchases for those looking for a bargain.

Many men are enjoying Glimpse all natural and completely toxin free skin care. I know men who use the gel cleanser as a shave cream and get excellent results without the burning, therefore no need for an aftershave. Many will use the (non-aerosol)spray toner after the shave anyways, which is always refreshing.

Glimpse comes in 2 systems, one for dry skin and one for normal/combination skin. Each system has 4 steps, an cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer. The packaging is very simple and plain, nothing too girly. There have been clinical tests done to prove that Glimpse can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, even out skin tone and reduce hyper pigmentation.

Good information that's timely and to the point. It's necessary to know as much as possible about ingredients in whatever you put on your skin.

It is embarrassing that in the U.S. anyone can label a cosmetic or body care product "organic" even if it contains known cancer-causing agents, toxic chemicals, or synthetic preservatives.

The FDA does not regulate the sale of skin care and cosmetic products before they are sold. Its website states "....cosmetic firms are responsible for substantiating the safety of their products and ingredients before marketing."

Research is finding that a buildup of toxic chemicals on the skin causes breakouts and premature aging.

Do yourself a favor, read and research labels on all your skin care products and choose the cleanest, most chemical-free ones you can find.
