Q: What’s a good natural remedy for a tummy ache after too many holiday sweets?
A: Many of us may experience this as we make our way through the party-filled weeks between Halloween and the New Year.
If a stomach ache is due to overeating, a good burp is usually the quickest way to get relief. Flat ginger-ale, soda, or naturally carbonated waters can do the trick.

why is this inappropriate?
Peppermint tea (either looseleaf or teabags) is my preference for this sort of digestive problem. A couple other people mentioned mint in various forms, and any of them can be helpful; mint works because it loosens the valve at the bottom of the stomach, which allows the stomach to empty faster. Unfortunately, this is also why some people with reflux/heartburn problems have trouble with mint - it also loosens the valve at the top of the stomach. I have reflux, however, and I don't find mint bothers me unless I'm already in the midst of a full-blown attack; it doesn't seem to be a trigger for me as it is for some people.

Ginger Tea works just as well.

Cola syrup over ice works great. It is available at most pharmacies and is very inexpensive.

My trick, room temperature semi-flat 7-up, or Dr. Pepper either room temp or slightly warmed up. The Dr. Pepper also works for a sore throat (from being overly vocal or sick) or voice loss due to too much celebration cheering.
