Pedal On: Bicycles as Decor

We know that our bikes provide a responsible (and not to mention healthy!) way to get around, but who knew they could also lend our abodes a does of lively style? Whether it may simply parking a two wheeler against a blank wall, or using some extra parts to liven up a room, we love how these ideas give biking an extra eco spin. Here are some looks that inspired us at Remodelista.

Above: Parked bikes and extra tires as window mullions at Mission Bicycle in San Francisco.

Above: This sculpture (seen on Apartment Therapy) incorporates bicycle handlebars.

Above: Seen at the London bicycle cafe, Lock 7, bike frames adorn a wall.

Above: In this photo by Toni Meneguzzo, these suspended bicycles add as much interesting depth to a wall as framed art.

For more two wheeling inspiration, check out Remodelista’s posts Events: Bicycles at London Design Week, Storage: The Bike Shelf by Chris Brigham in SF and  Storage: Indoor Bicycle Storage Roundup.

The tires off gas so I don't think they should be kept inside.

I've been doing this for years. One warehouse I lived in had a franken-bike we built with two frames, which was hanged upside down.

lol Just visited a friend who has a bike wheel against an old white gate reminiscent of the wagon wheels often used around here. Amusing and interesting.
