I'm keeping all such info handy for use when I get another dog. I'm just about ready---Heidi died 2 years ago very shortly after a cancer diagnosis.
I find myself thinking more and more about going to our Humane Society again. That's where we found her and loved her until the day she died.
No---no that's wrong. We still love her!!!

My four year old persian/siamese/himilayan has fequent eye discharge. I've heard that this is normal in persians, but her face is normal, not at all squished. My vet doesn't think much of it, but then he probably doesn't want o have to do tests on her, because every time she goes to the vet she makes noises like she's having an exorcism (I'm not kidding - the nurse always lauhs that comment off but returns wearing gloves and a look of shock), and she'll scrath and bite them too if she can. She's usually an adorable. absolute mushball at home with my husband and I, though she is particular and certain things will make her mad (like any cat!) and we think this vet behavior is probably related to her accidentally getting her tail smashed by the door and having to get the top of it amputated when she was just a kitten. That would probably give me emotional issues about vets too. I've noticed throw up on the carpet twice in the past 4 months, but I don't think that's too unusual, and could be from our other cat, our two year old who likes to eat anything she can fit in her mouth. Should I be concerned about this discharge?

There are lots of herbs rich in iron and there are chewable iron tablets. Find out how much iron your pet should be getting a day based on their weight and then offer chewable tablets or iron rich herbs like yellow dock, burdock, spirulina, molasses, and others like liquid floradix iron and herbs.

We took our 12 year old cat into the vets office this morning. Layla has lost a lot of weight and is listless - she also has lost her appetite. In January she weighed 8.5 pounds, today, she weighed 6.5 pounds. They are running a blood test on Layla, thinking it may be hyperthyroidism. They gave her 2 Vitamin B shots and injected her with 2 doses of saline solution. Hoping to hear what her problem is by the end of the week. About all we can do is keep her comfortable - offer food and water and make her life as stress free as possible.

My youngest dog had cancer. I found what looked like a wart w/elephantitis on his side. He was at the age to start getting warts, so I decided to keep an eye on it. Then it started bleeding a week after I first noticed it. got him to the vet, surgery, results - cancer. 3 months to that day later, we tragically lost our middle dog to a bad surgery. 3 mos to that day later we had to put our oldest down because of vestibular disease. then we had to move in w/my mom. I thought my guy was in mourning because of all the changes. He wouldn't eat anything more than once. I was buying small bags of food, making food nothing more than once. finally took him back to the vet to make sure there wasn't something wrong before I continued beating my head against the wall, it was chronic active hepatitis! Anytime your dog stops eating or will only eat something once, after 3 days of not eating get him to the vet for an exam and blood test. I'm happy to say after 2 years, we still have our guy and he's doing great, but got VERY lucky.

I'm going to bring our Callie (7 year old DSH female cat) into the vet soon because she has lost a lot of weight. We believe it had something to do with a lost tooth because she's stopped eating dry food altogether, and she's down to about 5-6 pounds. She also seems to be under a lot of stress although I can't say how much of that is related to what she's eating and how much is "other". Is there anything else I can give her in the meantime to ease her distress?
